Find the right photographer

If there is one thing I can reiterate here, it will be this: A Family Photographer is someone who will share with you some of the most precious and intimate moments of your life, so fine someone who feels like a friend, someone you can trust, someone you can connect with.
Communicate
Can not stress on this one enough! Communicate with your photographer, tell them about your expectations from this photoshoot, tell them your worries and tell them your limitations. If little Jonny would need a lot of jumping room to release his energy, and little Sara will take time to warm up, let your photographer know. Work with them to figure out the best location, outfits, props etc. It will be so much easier to not have surprises on the day of or after the photoshoot. Clear communication goes a long way in creating a stress free Family Photoshoot.
Prepare
Prepare your kids, partner and pets for the photoshoot. Let them know what to expect when they are out there meeting a new person. Involve them in the process, take their help in figuring out their outfits. Make sure the kids, your partner and you are well fed and well rested. No body enjoys a photoshoot when their tummy is rumbling or when they are tired.
Arrive on time
If you take away one thing from this article, let it be this! Please arrive on time. Give yourself plenty of grace period so you are not huffing and puffing while rushing to the photoshoot. Especially when you have little kids in the tow, plan for the delays. Hurrying little ones most definitely results in a meltdown.
Let go
Breathe. You have done all the preparations, you are here now! Your beautiful family is here and now is the time to spend some meaningful time with them. So let go of all the pressure and expectations and just enjoy this moment. Feel in the wind in your hair and warmth of your family's hugs. You are here to create beautiful memories and thats what we will do!
