Well, there is no one way to figure out how much does a Family Photoshoot cost in Bay Area. Art is very subjective.
But here are the 6 tips that will help you figure out how much will your photoshoot cost.
What are you looking for in a Family Photoshoot?
This one starts with you! What is it that you are looking for in a photoshoot? Do you prefer traditional portraits where everybody is sitting against a blue background and smiling into the camera or do you prefer candid and emotive photography where your kids' personalities shine.
Candid, emotive and love filled images are obviously very precious and requires a photographer who knows what they are doing.
Is the experience important to you?
From car dealership to eating in a restaurant, we all know how experience changes drastically when we move between low, mid and high end entities. Now sure, not every time we want to sit in a fancy restaurant and enjoy a four course meal. But every now and then its so much fun and relaxing to enjoy a beautiful evening in a high end restaurant. Photography is exactly like that. You can get the experience you are looking for, from commodity to luxury!
What's the pricing model of the photographer?
This is one thing that confuses so many families. There are usually two types of pricing model when it comes to photography:
Session Fee + Products In this model, you pay for the session free to reserve your photoshoot. After the session, you meet with the photographer for a Purchasing Appointment, to view your images and buy products.
All Inclusive This is a simpler model, where pay for the photoshoot and your images upfront and there is no purchasing done after the photoshoot. Some photographers do include some products such as Photo Albums or Fine Art Prints.
What's their expertise?
The more experienced the photographer, the more expensive they are. They have years of experience under their belt, their work is cohesive and creative, their timelines are all measured and they know how to take care of your family.
How polished are their pictures? Do they provide editing and retouching?
What does the final product look like? Are the pictures edited with consistency and have true colors? Do they look polished?
With a seasoned photographer, you will receive a gallery filled with beautiful, cohesive images which are high resolution and look as beautiful when viewed on a bigger screen.
Do they deliver high quality products?
Whether you are getting digital images or products such as Photo Albums or Prints, are the products high quality? You can get a picture book printed at Walmart for $20 and pay $300 to be printed at a reputable lab. The quality obviously is very different.
So the short answer is, like with everything else in life, you get what you pay for.
