Family Photoshoot at Vasona Park, Los Gatos
Met this sweet family at the Los Gatos Creek trail. Little Peter was tucked in his Dad’s arms and was unsure of what was going on and who was this strange lady they were meeting for the first time! I greeted Elizabeth first, little kids are these amazing sponges, they most often mirror their parents’ reaction. So it’s very important to start with parents first and give them a warm introduction. When he saw his parents smiling he eased down a little bit.
I then introduced myself to him, still maintaining distance. I asked him how his day was and what it was that he was holding in his hands. And then asked him what his favorite color was and threw some very wild guess at him which made him smile!
I like to involve kids in my session from the very beginning. Once kids are comfortable they are so much more willing to cooperate with you!
When we started the session, Peter became a little wiggly so we let him play and be himself. He ran up and down the trail and picked up sticks and stones and grass and leaves. And we ran with him, photographing and playing all his games.
His energy was definitely contagious and his laughter filled the air and everybody’s heart with joy. I noticed a few passers by smiling at us!
His energy wore off after a while and he climbed back up in his parents arms. Elizabeth put him in his baby carrier and he snuggled close. They looked beautiful in the golden sunlight. We ended the session with lots of snuggles and smiles and beautiful evening light!

I share an Information & Style guide with my clients which helps them pick color palette for their photoshoot. Elizabeth and Nathan chose Teal, Beige and soft white. Their outfits complemented the sunset colors very well!
